John F. ("Joe") Perry
Joe was born and lived in Pittsburgh, PA before moving to Charleston. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1972 with a BA in History and graduated from the Dickinson School of Law, Carlisle, PA, in 1976. After graduation, he joined the firm of Springer & Perry, which, after a merger became Springer Bush & Perry, PC. Located in Pittsburgh, the firm handled a variety of corporate matters. Joe's specialties included health care litigation and employment law. A full general practice lawyer, Joe also handled cases involving property rights, homeowners associations, contracts and securities and he represented business entities in employment discrimination cases. In addition, he has experience with drafting and reviewing a variety of contracts, simple or complex. Since 1986, Joe has been rated "av", the highest rating in both legal and ethical standards, by peer review ratings of Martindale-Hubbell.
Joe retired from Springer Bush & Perry in 2004. In 2006, he moved to Charleston. After he decided to return to private practice, he took the South Carolina Bar Exam, and has been licensed in South Carolina since 2015. He has practiced in both state and federal courts, and has served as an arbitrator as well as an attorney. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and federal and state courts both here and in Pennsylvania.
Joe lives on Johns Island with his wife, Marianne. He enjoys live music and theatre, reading, history, sports and golf.
